Partisan politics

.
Have you “had it” with partisan politics? I have. It seems to me that in a perfect world that there would be no political parties. We’d vote for candidates based on their qualifications, their vision, and their ability to lead. I can name politicians on both sides of the aisle who are good finger-pointers and poor leaders. But what’s the point? You can too.

I have a dream. I dream that in the next election that voters would THINK instead of acting like robots. What is the candidate’s vision? What is their record in accomplishing their vision? Have they been effective leaders? In my dream-world problem solving would be the standard and not constant, and counterproductive, political party bickering and pettiness. In my dream-world HUGE sums of money wouldn’t be spent in campaigning for office WAY BEFORE the election. We would decide who we were going to vote for by each candidate’s WRITTEN position on the issues. Campaigning would take WEEKS instead of years, and campaign costs would be small. Oh well, one can always dream.
